Midnight crew is a faith based singing and music making group positioned for putting the praise of GOD on the lips of all men. Founded on the 8th of November, 2001, the group has three albums to its credit; FUSION, TUNGBA UNLIMITED and IGWE.

Midnight crew's music can be described as eclectic, robust and full of character, taking something from every genre of music available to its four proprietors. The proprietors of the group, PATRICIA UWAJE KING, GBENGA OYEBOLA, ODUNAYO OJO and MICHAEL ABDUL have served in a number of choirs, amassing a wealth of experience for the task ahead.

Midnight crew has enjoyed several enviable platforms alongside a number of gospel music greats around the world; Lionel Peterson, Mary-Mary, Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Panam Percy Paul, Kurt Carr, Ebenezer Obey, Israel Houghton, Tye Tribbett, Sammie Okposo, Fred Hammond and Don Moen.

What led to the formation of the group Midnight Crew?

We met in YABA COLLEGE of TECHNOLOGY where we were members of an inter-departmental choral group called ORIGINAL LOVE CHOIR. Each of us was exceptional in the choir and somehow destiny brought us to agree with one another's gifts. We did very well together as singers and organisers of events while in school and we knew it will be a huge waste if we let all that end with leaving school.

How did you come up with the name Midnight Crew?

The name Midnight Crew was inspired by a bible experience recorded in Judges chapter 6. Eleven men had a mission to tear down the altars of a popular idol and they chose to do it in the midnight. Now, we started Midnight Crew as eleven people with a mission to tear down the walls of religion through music and put the praise of God on the lips of all men. The two groups, they and we , have some things in common so we decided to adopt the name we gave them , Midnight Crew.

How would you describe your genre of music?

We do several genre of music, some of our songs are a fusion of a number of music genre........... "Genre-less ?", "Eclectic ?". Let's describe it as ECLECTIC.

How long has the group been in existence?

Since November 8, 2001, about seven years now.

How have you been able to stay together?

Our common vision is the focal point. We have organisational policies around everything that concerns us , including disbursement of funds. We also have successfully created a platform of expression for every member of the Crew, no one feels left out.

What inspired the song 'Igwe' and why did you choose to give it that title?

The song, "igwe" was inspired by a burden to see people worship God without tribal seperations, our little contribution to fostering a united Nigeria. We found no other title appropriate for a song that says one word for up to thirty times, the title "igwe" is more than proper.

When is your album due and why has it taken this length of time?

Excuse me !?!
The album, titled after the song "igwe" was long released January 2008 and has sold two million copies already.

Patricia King - Theatre arts, University of Lagos and Secretarial studies, Yaba College of Technology.
Olugbenga Oyebola - Quantity Surveying, Yaba College of Technology.
